Petition: Breaking Dawn… Rated R?!?!?!
uhm…. YES YES YES PLEASE! i would have requested the petition go for a rated X, but i know that would be pushing it…
Twilight Fans Petition for an R-Rated Breaking Dawn
A group of angry Twilighters — ardent fans of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga — have created a petition imploring production company Summit Entertainment to raise the rating of the fourth movie, Breaking Dawn, from a PG-13 to an R.
The petition, one sure to set Summit quaking in its boots, states:
It is understood that not only is Breaking Dawn rated R in the book, the director should produce a film that mirrors it’s book in original form that is greatly loved by females (and some males) all over the world. Losing major details of the movie will definitely hurt the release of Breaking Dawn and disappoint fans everywhere.
We’re all for fans speaking out and demanding what they want, but in this case, it’s pretty pointless, thanks to Meyer’s previous stipulation that all Twilight movies be rated PG-13. It’s no lie that Breaking Dawn contains more mature themes and scenes than its predecessors, but we don’t think even Summit would be stupid enough to go against the vampire queen herself, just for the sake of some extra blood and a glimpse of Robert Pattinson mid-skinny-dip.
More to the point, how many parents can you see accompanying their daughters on 10 different theater trips to see Edward, Jacob, and Bella battle it out over a drained animal carcass and a Quileute campfire? If you find one, we’ll be very surprised.

Okay lets think about this for a minute, in today’s society PG-13 pretty much accompanies what is in the book. You can have Edward standing in the water butt naked, but with the water waist high, if they shoot it right you’d never know. As long as they don’t show the backside of Bella below her waist they’ll be fine. In the book they never go into detail of the night like you’ll find in the Sookie Stackhouse collection. I mean for-heavens-sake, you have Bella and Edward PASSIONATELY making out in Twilight with her in undies. Sure she’s in lingerie at one point in BD, but if she’s got a nightie on or a silk robe in whatever color Alice has packed for her, I think still acceptable. If they stay true to the book, then I truly feel they are in the PG-13 range, if they start heading in the direction of Sookie and Bill, then they are headed for R. If you can show Stefan and Elena making out in bed together and then waking up the next morning, sheets pulled up on TV, then I think you can pull it off in a PG-13 movie. So that’s my opinion.

hopefully they get as close to the book as they possibly can. As soon as i finished reading it i new it would make the best movie out of the series. Everyone i know thinks so too.

I want the movie exactly like the book. I want to see every little detail. We all have followed the series for years and I want this to be the happily -ever- after. THIS IS IT! They have waited for the sexual part of their relationship which is extremely admirable this day and time. I want to SEE and FEEL the fairy tale ending. This movie should be an R or NC-17 rating.

I will be sooooooo pissed! I have read all the books over and over and have seen all including Eclipse on opening night. Bought all the movies, seen them all in the theater 6 to 10 times with friends and family. Planned on seeing Eclipse this weekend again. My son age 13 has read them all and gone with me to all the movies. Our family chooses to not see rated R movies for any reason even a good one like Breaking Dawn. It will be such a huge saddness that many of the 8 year olds to 18 year olds that parents do not let them see rated R movies can not see this one. Summit will make tons of people mad and loose a lot of money because of it. Stephinie made her books rated pg 13 for a reason. It is so disappointing. Summit will loose our buisness for everything if they choose to take that route. I am sure many many moms and familys feel the same!!!!!! Also they can easily make the honeymoon and other parts of the movie rated pg 13. Heck stupid Grown ups was rated pg 13 and showed naked butts and full of cussing & sexual content. Breaking Dawn is one that has a marriage then sex while married- In the book they do not go into details about it nore should SUmmit. Keeping it PG 13 can and should happen. R is not needed to make it an awesome movie!!!

I think it should be rated R not because of the sex scene but because Renesme’s birth. It just not be done correctly with a PG13 rating! The writer should be fired or paid more to change her mind!!
